Nigerian Striker Scores Brilliant Free Kick For Leicester City In Checkatrade Trophy
Published: November 08, 2017Leicester City's Development Squad lost 4-2 to Morecambe on penalties in the Checkatrade Trophy at Globe Arena on Tuesday night, after a two-all stalemate at the end of regulation time.
Two players of Nigerian descent featured for the Young Foxes, Layton Ndukwu started before he was substituted in the 61st minute while the very promising 17-year-old left-back Calvin Ughelumba played the last nine minutes.
The home team had a dream start in the eighth minute when Gary Thompson smashed the ball home off an assist from Vadaine Oliver.
Layton Ndukwu equalized for Leicester City in the 25th minute from a free kick 25 yards from goal.
Josh Knight made it 2-1 in the 85th minute before Morecambe drew level through Elliot Osborne with almost the last kick of the game.
Although Ndukwu has yet to debut for Leicester City, he trained with the first team in pre-season.
