Iwobi & Akpom Sparkle As New Thierry Henry Double Sees Arsenal Beat Norwich
Published: October 24, 2017Alex Iwobi and Chuba Akpom inspired Arsenal to a 2-1 win over Norwich City in the EFL Cup at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Edwards Nketiah was at the double as the English giants orchestrated a stunning comeback after going down to a Josh Murphy opener.
The Canaries had surprisingly started the game on the front foot, dictating play and causing their more illustrious opponents problems before their efforts paid dividends four minutes after the half-hour mark.
James Maddison was the provider, delightfully playing in Murphy who chipped a composed finish over Macey in the Arsenal goal.
At Arsenal had it all to work for in the course of the ninety before the equaliser would eventually arrive in the 85th minute, Nketiah scoring with his first touch seconds after coming on, Francis Coquelin floating in a cross at the near post for the teenage Nketiah to put away, thereby dragging the tie into extra time.
And the Canaries were eventually left reeling in displeasure after the youngster, who has been likened to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry , rose highest in the box to nod in from a Mohammed Elneny's cross, notching his second of the night to send the Championship side packing.
Alex Iwobi was in action for the course of the ninety minutes and only came off for Jonathan Dasilva in the 105th
minute of the exra while his fellow countryman,Chuba Akpom was thrown into the fray on the 70th minute mark as Wenger's men sought an equaliser.
The win confirms Arsenal passage into the quarter finals of the competition they had not won since 1993.
