Arsenal Last Workout Pre-Norwich : Iwobi Set To Return To Starting XI, Akpom Out
Published: October 23, 2017Barring a last-minute change by manager Arsene Wenger, Alex Iwobi is set to return to Arsenal's starting eleven for Tuesday night's League Cup tie against Norwich City at the Emirates Stadium.
This month, the Nigeria international has not figured for the Gunners against Red Star Belgrade (Europa League) and Everton (Premier League), as Wenger was forced to rotate his squad to enable him deal with fixture congestion.
Arsenal held their final workout at London Colney on Monday and Wenger gave us a hint of the eleven players that will start against the Championship outfit.
In the team wearing white bibs (the players likely to start) were Alex Iwobi, Olivier Giroud and Jack Wilshere, but Chuba Akpom might not be in contention to start as he was spotted wearing a black bib.
Friday will make it two years that the Nigerian wonderkid made his competitive debut for Arsenal in this competition when he logged ninety minutes against Sheffield Wednesday.
Arsenal Academy stars Tolaji Bola, Aaron Eyoma and Joseph Olowu started against Spurs U23s in a Premier League 2 game this afternoon, and will have to wait for their first-team debuts.
Young midfielder Oluwarotimi Odusina played for Norwich City's U23s on Friday and is unlikely to travel with the first team to the capital.
