Manchester United Reignite Interest In Mikel 13 Years After Scouting Midfielder In Egypt
Published: November 29, 2016Manchester United are ready to make a move to sign Chelsea star John Obi Mikel in the January transfer window.
The electronic edition of The Sun says the Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho is ready to take advantage with a cut-price New Year offer for the Super Eagles midfielder.
The ex-Lyn Oslo wonderkid had been linked with a transfer to Manchester United prior to his shift to Chelsea, and even signed a four-year contract with the club but the deal later fell through because the Manchester club did not negotiate with his agent, John Shittu.
Manchester United first expressed an interest in the signature of Mikel 13 years ago after he impressed their scouts at the UEFA-CAF Meridian Cup in Egypt, and he was invited to train at Carrington before the 2003 Fifa U17 World Cup.
Mikel has been linked with possible moves to Marseille and an unnamed club in China in the winter transfer market.
