24 Hours To D-Day : NFF Flaunt Super Eagles Record Vs Algeria
Published: November 11, 2016The Nigeria Football Federation have tipped the Super Eagles to beat Algeria in a crucial World Cup qualifier at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium on Saturday.
The two African powerhouses have met seventeen times in the past, with Nigeria overcoming their North African opponents eight times, drawing three and losing six.
Those statistics are spurious, in the sense that the Super Eagles have not lost to the Desert Foxes for more than 26 years, with their last defeat coming in the 1990 African Cup of Nations showpiece game on March 16, 1990.
“History favours the Super Eagles. Victory beckons for our team. We are unstoppable. Let us cheer ceaselessly and support relentlessly. We shall win convincingly, ” the Nigeria Football Federation stated.
The Super Eagles, who lead the way in Group B of the qualifiers, have qualified for the World Cup five times.and reached the second round in 1994, 1998 and 2014.
