Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy provides fitness update on Ndidi pre-Tottenham Hotspur
Published: January 24, 2025Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has provided a glimmer of hope for Foxes fans with an encouraging update on Wilfred Ndidi's injury recovery ahead of their crucial Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Nigerian international suffered the injury during a Premier League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion on December 8, 2024.
Since then, he has been sidelined for seven Premier League games and one FA Cup tie, leaving a significant void in Leicester's midfield.
Before his injury, Ndidi was instrumental in Leicester’s campaign, contributing one goal and four assists in 16 matches across all competitions.
Beyond his offensive contributions, Ndidi has been a defensive anchor, consistently making key tackles and interceptions to shield the backline.
However, Leicester City has struggled in his absence, failing to secure a single point in the league since his injury.
This alarming run of form has deepened their relegation concerns and heightened anxiety among the fanbase.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Van Nistelrooy shared positive news about Ndidi’s progress. "Wilf is making good progress in his rehabilitation. Hopefully he can be a part of team training at some point next week.," the Dutch manager said when asked about the Nigerian’s recovery.
The potential return of Ndidi to training is a significant boost for Leicester, who desperately need his influence in both attack and defense to halt their downward slide.
With the Foxes battling to avoid relegation, fans will be hoping the midfielder’s return marks a turning point in their campaign.
