Aina Plays Full Game, Moses Shines, Tomori & Abraham Benched As Chelsea Lose To Real Madrid
Published: July 30, 2016Chelsea were beaten 3-2 by UEFA Champions League holders Real Madrid at Ann Arbor, Michigan in the International Champions Cup on Saturday.
Antonio Conte’s side had England youth-teamer Ola Aina in its starting line-up while Super Eagles star Victor Moses dropped to the bench.
The Blues were 2-0 down after 26 minutes when Marcelo bagged his brace, beating Begovic at the near post after Aina had lost possession. At half-time, Real Madrid were three goals up.
The introduction of Victor Moses fifteen minutes from time sparked life into Chelsea’s attack, with Hazard pulling a goal back in the 80th minute before grabbing his brace in the first minute of stoppage time.
England U19 internationals Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham are among the players that traveled to USA but did not get game time for the second game running.
Chelsea will conclude their tour of the United States on Thursday when they face AC Milan in their last tie in the ICC at the U.S. Bank Stadium (Minneapolis, Minnesota).
