Chuba Akpom was on target in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over the MLS All-Stars at Avaya Stadium on Friday morning.

The England U21 international was officially named the Most Valuable Player of the 2016 AT&T All-Star Game after scoring the game-winner for the Gunners with three minutes remaining.

He picked up the accolade ahead of more illustrious names such as Drogba, Pirlo, Kaka, David Villa, Giovinco, Cech , Oxlade-Chamberlain and Campbell

Akpom’s 87th minute strike was his fourth goal for Arsenal, all of them coming in noncompetitive fixtures, having notched a hat-trick as the Emirates outfit thrashed Singapore XI 4-0 on July 15, 2015.

The Hale End Academy product has been at Arsenal since the age of six and has enjoyed loan spells at Brentford, Coventry City, Nottingham Forest and Hull City.
