Arsenal Midfielder Alex Iwobi To Wait For Nigeria Debut
Published: February 21, 2015Arsenal striker Alex Iwobi will not debut for Nigeria’s Under 23 national team on Saturday in their All Africa Games qualifier against Gabon in Libreville.
The paperwork that would enable him play for the Dream Team did not come through, and he will watch the game in the VIP box alongside NFF officials Ikpeme and Green.
Since making his debut for the England Under 16s against Wales on October 27, 2011, Iwobi racked up 11 appearances for the youth teams of England, before he decided to pledge his international future to Nigeria.
Coach Samson Siasia, in his wisdom, has decided not to risk the ex England youth international against Gabon until all the i’s have been dotted and the t’s crossed.
