Gil Vicente Star Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo Happy To Score Seventh Goal Of The Season
Published: January 25, 2015Gil Vicente forward Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo, 22, has expressed his delight at scoring his seventh goal in all competitions this season as his club played a 2 - 2 draw with Vitória Guimarães in the Portuguese Primeira Liga on Saturday.
In his 11th start of the season, the ex Future Hope Academy, Nkpor starlet registered his name on the score - sheet in the 27th minute before teammate Evaldo gave Gil Vicente a two - goal cushion in the 55th minute.
But the Roosters were unable to hold onto that advantage, with André André leveling matters three minutes into stoppage time.
“I am glad to be on the score - sheet again because it’s always positive for every striker when he scores.” Simeon Nwankwo told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“Regarding the game, I think we did enough to win but Guimarães is a very strong team at home and were able to draw with a last minute penalty.”
One of the reasons Gil Vicente are rooted to the bottom of the Primeira Liga table, two points adrift of safety, is that they have lacked killer instinct to finish off teams after taking the lead.
“The only remedy is hard work and that is what we have been doing and the results will come forward this second round of the season.
“I am very much confident in the team’s capacity,”he concluded.
Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo is spending his second season at the Estádio Cidade de Barcelos.
