'You can see' - Ex-Crystal Palace forward tells Awoniyi what to improve to be on Wood's level

Former Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison has advised Taiwo Awoniyi on key areas to improve if he wants to reach the level of teammate Chris Wood.

Morrison shared his thoughts on BBC Radio 5 Live while analyzing Nottingham Forest's FA Cup victory over Ipswich Town.

Awoniyi, who has found game time limited this season, started the match but was replaced by Wood in the 82nd minute as Forest pushed for a winner.

The Nigerian International has struggled for form with Nottingham Forest this season, often losing his spot to Chris Wood in the Premier League.

Awoniyi has played just 250 minutes across 20 Premier League matches this season, while Wood has featured for 2,196 minutes in 27 games.

However, the veteran striker has justified manager Nuno Espírito Santo's trust with his prolific form, scoring 18 league goals compared to Awoniyi's lone strike.

Discussing the attributes of both strikers, Morrison highlighted the key difference between them.

"Taiwo Awoniyi doesn't read the game like Chris Wood does. You can see he's a striker coming back to full fitness."

With Awoniyi's underwhelming performances, there are concerns regarding his potential inclusion in the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

The former Liverpool striker will be hoping to improve his form and secure a spot in the squad for the crucial fixtures.
