Leganes pushing to sign Dessers on loan but Rangers demands pose a major hurdle

CD Leganes' pursuit of Glasgow Rangers striker Cyrel Dessers has hit a snag due to the Scottish club's high valuation of the player, according to Spanish sports daily AS.

The Spanish club, who have been tracking Dessers for some time, are eager to bring the Nigerian international to the Estadio Municipal Butarque, but Rangers' demands are proving difficult to meet.

As per recent reports, Rangers are seeking a significant transfer fee for Dessers, who has been in impressive form this season, scoring 16 goals in 33 games.

The 30-year-old's goalscoring exploits have not gone unnoticed, and Leganes are keen to add him to their squad as they seek to bolster their attacking options.

However, Rangers' valuation of Dessers is understood to be a major stumbling block in the negotiations.

Leganes are reportedly exploring alternative options, including a loan deal until the end of the season, but Rangers are holding out for a permanent transfer.

Dessers' situation at Rangers is quite intriguing, given that he has not been a regular starter in the Sottish Championship since November.

Despite this, he continues to score goals, including a recent hat-trick in the Scottish Cup.

His limited role in Rangers' starting lineup may have sparked his desire to seek new opportunities, with a move to LaLiga and CD Leganes potentially appealing to the striker.

Leganes' interest in Dessers is not new, having previously attempted to sign him in the summer of 2021.

On that occasion, the deal fell through due to Feyenoord's late intervention, but Leganes have rekindled their interest in the striker.

Joining Feyenoord eventually paid off for Dessers as he registered twenty goals and four assists for the club, including finishing as the 2021/2022 season's UEFA Europa Conference League's top scorer with ten goals for the Rotterdam-based club.
