Arsenal wonderkid Nwaneri points out one quality of Gabriel Martinelli he'd like to add to his game
Published: November 20, 2024Arsenal's promising young midfielder, Ethan Nwaneri, has shared that he would love to add one specific attribute of Gabriel Martinelli's to his game.
In a video posted on the Gunners official X account, Nwaneri was answering fan questions alongside teammate Myles Lewis-Skelly.
When asked if he could take one attribute from any of his current teammates, the 17-year-old quickly pointed to Martinelli’s blistering speed.
"I'd take Martinelli's speed. I'd be fake with that," Nwaneri said, highlighting how important it would be for his development as a player.
Nwaneri has been one of the standout performers for Arsenal this season, catching the eye with his football intelligence, dribbling ability, movement off the ball, and impressive goal-scoring record.
His performances have earned him several opportunities with the first team under Mikel Arteta, where he has featured in eight games across all competitions, scoring three goals.
Despite his early success, Nwaneri admitted that stepping into the first team came with its own challenges.
"Yeah, I think it is hard but you get used to it quick. At the end of the day, it's good," he said when discussing the demands of playing at the highest level.
In the same video, Nwaneri also revealed that his teammate Ayden Heaven is the funniest player in the Arsenal dressing room, calling him “a very funny guy.”
When asked about his skills outside of football, Nwaneri shared that he is also a keen basketball player, having been involved in the sport for a long time.
