'He is the best right now' - Galatasaray coach chooses Osimhen over two-time PL Golden Boot winner
Published: November 19, 2024Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk has claimed that Victor Osimhen is the best striker in Europe at the moment and is better than two-time Premier League Golden Boot winner and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.
The Super Eagles striker has been unstoppable in the colours of the Lion, notching eight goals and four assists in nine games, averaging slightly more than a goal involvement per game.
Osimhen has scored or assisted in every game that he has played in the Trendyol Süper Lig and has done the same in all but one game in the UEFA Europa League.
In comparison, Haaland has found the back of the net 16 times in 15 games for Manchester City this campaign but has scored just twice in the last six games in the Premier League but he is still top of the Premier League top scorers’ chart, four more than his closest challengers.
While the Norwegian forward has outscored Osimhen, he is yet to register an assist across all competitions this term, which could be one of the reasons that informed the position of Buruk on the two-star strikers.
In an interview with Asist Analiz via Kibris Gercek, the Lion boss stated that Osimhen was the best striker in Europe at the moment when asked if there was a better striker than the Nigerian striker
"He is the best player I have seen right now. I can say Osimhen is at 50-60%. He came here and started playing straight away, he had an injury, it is really important if he is 100% physically. His character is also very important," Okan Buruk stated.
He was then quizzed on whether the 25-year-old was better than Haaland.
"Maybe Haaland comes to mind first, but since City have lost in recent weeks, I would say Victor Osimhen is the best right now" .
The two strikers were on the scoresheet for their respective countries in the ongoing international break as Osimhen scored once in two games while Haaland netted four goals in the same number of games for Norway.
