Osimhen makes big statement on his future amid reports linking him with Chelsea in January
Published: October 12, 2024Super Eagles star forward Victor Osimhen has made a big statement on his future amid fresh reports linking him with a transfer to Premier League giants Chelsea in the January transfer window.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year has made it clear he's not considering jumping ship when the transfer window reopens for business.
The 25-year-old has had a brilliant start to life with Galatasaray, notching two goals and four assists in four games but has had his form hampered by a muscle strain injury.
The injury has made him the Lions' last two games and that of the Super Eagles Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya yesterday though he is expected to return to action after the international break.
Chelsea missed out on the 25-year-old services in the last transfer window and are still said to be interested in getting the Nigerian striker.
The recent statement of Napoli director Mauro Meluso, who failed to close the door on Osimhen leaving permanently in January has also added more fuel to the reports linking the Blues to him.
However, the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup winner has reportedly told his agent, Roberto Calenda, that he is not thinking of leaving Galatasaray and he is focused on winning titles with the Turkish side.
In quotes relayed by Fanatik, he told Calenda: "I don't want to think about transfers. I just want to concentrate on the field. Don't make an offer until the end of the season. I'm just focused on winning trophies here."
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan last month and it would be difficult for the Turkish giants to sign him permanently due to his hefty transfer fee, thereby leaving the possibility of the lanky forward joining Chelsea in the future open.
