Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka, has issued a strong warning to Libya ahead of the upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifier clash in Uyo.
Nigeria is set to play the Mediterranean Knights in Uyo on Friday, October 11, followed by a return fixture on Tuesday, October 15 in Benghazi.
Leading Group D with four points earned from a 3-0 win over Benin and a goalless draw against Rwanda in Kigali, interim manager Austin Eguavoen called up 23 players for the upcoming games.
The squad includes three goalkeepers, seven defenders, six midfielders, and seven strikers.
On Tuesday evening, the team commenced preparation with 20 players, under the guidance of Eguavoen and his technical crew.
By Wednesday, the team's camp was fully assembled after Sevilla forwards, Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidera Ejuke, joined the rest of the group.
In an interview with Football Fans Tribe, Onyeka warned the Libyans of the team's ambition to win both games.
He stated that the players are fully focused and determined to win both games in order to secure qualification to the biennial tournament.
"Every body is very focused. The mentality is strong. We want to ensure we win the two games to ensure we are guaranteed of qualification," he stated.
Onyeka made a loan move to Augsburg from Brentford during the summer window.
The Super Eagles midfielder quickly made his mark at the Bundesliga club, playing a key role in their victory against St. Pauli.
Looking back at the game, he admitted that he did not expect to start but relied on his experience to contribute to the team's success under pressure.
"I don't believe I will start the game. The coach told me a day before the game. The pressure I felt in that moment but I used my experience to help the team get the victory."
