Snapped: Nwaneri, Butler-Oyedeji named in Arsenal travelling squad to face Lookman's Atalanta
Published: September 18, 2024Two Nigerian players have been pictured traveling with the Arsenal first team to Italy ahead of their UEFA Champions League matchday one clash with Ademola Lookman's Atalanta on Thursday evening.
Premier League 2 Player of the Month for August 2024, Nathan Butler-Oyedeji and England U19 international Ethan Nwaneri are the two Nigerian players who have made the trip to Bergamo.
As reported earlier, Butler-Oyedeji has been training with the first team ahead of the clash with the Italian outfit as he awaits his senior debut.
The 21-year-old has four goals and two assists in the opening three matches in the Premier League 2 and that seemingly has fetched him a spot in the first team.
He has previously been named in the matchday squad on two occasions, the first one being in the Premier League fixture against Newcastle and a third-round tie with Oxford United last year.
Nwaneri has been a regular with the first team since the start of the season and has been named in the matchday squad for all the Premier League games played so far.
He made his season debut against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, coming off the bench to replace Bukayo Saka four minutes before the end of regulation time.
The precocious midfielder has now made his three appearances for the first team and will be seeking his first start against Atalanta.
