Serie A: Stats reveal only Portuguese Ronaldo and Brazilian Ronaldo have lower mins per goal than Osimhen
Published: July 23, 2024Following the controversy surrounding the future of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, renowned sports statistics company, Opta, highlighted that only two Serie A players past and present currently boast a superior minutes-per-goal ratio compared to Napoli's Victor Osimhen.
The football statistics company released its findings amid concerns about Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen's market value and quality, particularly due to difficulties in finding a European club willing to meet his release clause.
Negotiations between Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain for Osimhen's transfer have reportedly stalled.
Napoli are demanding either the inclusion of Lee Kang-in or a payment of between €120 million and €130 million to trigger the release clause.
PSG, however, are unwilling to include Kang-in in the deal and is reportedly not prepared to meet the full release clause amount.
This impasse has raised questions about Osimhen's value and status, despite his impressive performance in leading Napoli to their first Scudetto title in 33 years during the 2022/2023 season.
In a recent post on X, Opta highlighted that only retired Brazil international Ronaldo Nazário and Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo have a better minutes-per-goal ratio than Osimhen in Serie A since the 1994/1995 season.
According to Opta, "Only Cristiano Ronaldo (one goal every 104 minutes) and Ronaldo (one goal every 117 minutes) have a better minutes-per-goal average than Victor Osimhen (one goal every 125 minutes) in Serie A since the 1994/95 season, with at least 10 goals."
The latest analysis underscored Osimhen's impressive scoring efficiency, with two other Serie A forwards having managed to score more frequently relative to their time on the pitch.
Since joining Napoli in 2020, Osimhen has netted 76 goals in 133 appearances, further solidifying his stature among Serie A's top forwards.
