Arsenal alum who loves Chelsea, Echegini agrees three-year deal with PSG
Published: July 10, 2024Jennifer Echegini said her goodbyes to Italian Serie A Femminile eBay side Juventus on Tuesday, fueling speculation that she is closing in on completing her move to another foreign club.
According to multiple reports in the Italian and French press, including Le Parisien, an authoritative source on Paris Saint-Germain related news, the Parisians have pulled off a transfer coup with the signing of Nigerian international midfielder Jennifer Onyi Echegini from Juventus.
Radio France journalist Bruno Salomon added that Echegini will put pen to paper on a three-year contract, keeping her at Paris Saint-Germain until the end of the 2026-2027 season.
PSG and Juventus have already reached a club-to-club agreement for the transfer of the 23-year-old.
Echegini, arguably the Super Falcons most influential player at the moment, is presently with the national team in Spain, where they are holding a training camp in preparation for the 2024 Olympic Games in France.
Reflecting on her football journey, the Dutch-born player revealed that she was previously on the books of three London teams and underlined that she is a fan of Chelsea.
Echegini told EaglesTracker after the 2023 Fifa Women's World Cup: "Growing up I was only a Chelsea fan even though I lived in the Netherlands and I didn't know much, and was in a completely different country, I just loved Chelsea.
"I started with a local football team over there in the Netherlands, stayed there till I was 11 years old, was playing with boys, then I moved to England, to London specifically, then I joined Charlton, Millwall. I was at Arsenal as well until age 18 then I came to United States."
Echegini made a significant impact in the second half of last season, scoring 10 goals in fourteen appearances for Juventus.
