France-bound Super Falcons midfielder Echegini announces departure from Juventus
Published: July 09, 2024Super Falcons attacking midfielder Jennifer Echegini has taken to social media to reveal that her time with Italian Serie A Femminile eBay side Juventus has come to an end.
Echegini has been named in the Super Falcons' 22-player squad for the 2024 Olympic Games holding in France.
Ahead of the Super Falcons' trip to France, she has released a big statement on her future with Juventus.
The Dutch-born player arrived at the Bianconere in the January transfer window, signing a deal that would have kept her at Juventus until June 30, 2026, but has decided to embark on a new chapter in her career two years before the expiration of her contract with the five-time Italian champions.
Echegini has reportedly decided to leave Juventus because she has not integrated well into Italian football and their mentality.
Despite joining Juventus in January, Echegini made a significant impact by scoring double-digit goals, joining Roma's Manuela Giugliano as one of the only two midfielders to do so.
Writing on Instagram, she said: "I wanted to take this moment and share my gratitude for the time we have shared.
"Despite all that may have been said I’m extremely grateful to have been apart of this family. Living and playing in Turin has been an amazing journey filled with a lot of growing and learning for me.
"I will cherish these memories and carry them on to my next journey."
She continued: "Thank you to my teammates and coaches for making me feel apart of the family. Working alongside dedicated and inspiring woman has been the most rewarding experience.
"I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.Lastly, thank you for your unwavering support throughout the season. With all my love and appreciation".
