Confirmed: 2006-born Nigerian winger departs Chelsea for Stoke City
Published: July 05, 2024With a statement on their official website, Chelsea have announced that London-born Nigerian winger Chinonso Chibueze has departed the Blues for Stoke City.
The 2006-born player joined Chelsea at U10 level, rising through the ranks to make his debut in the U18 Premier League in his final season as a schoolboy.
He has signed a professional contract with Stoke City and will join their development squad for the forthcoming campaign.
Chibueze is versatile enough to play anywhere in the front three, including right winger, left winger and centre forward.
Stoke City pulled off a transfer coup by luring him to ST4 as several clubs were interested in his services, which highlights the promising opportunities they can provide for him.
Chibueze represented Chelsea in the U18 Premier League, U18 Premier League Cup and Premier League Cup last season.
Overall, the 18-year-old totaled twenty-three appearances for the Blues in the U18 Premier League and scored twice in a 9-1 victory over West Brom in December 2023.
Next season, Chinonso will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of his elder brother Kelechi Chibueze by making his debut in the Premier League 2.
A direct and powerful attacking player who prefers to play as a right winger, Chinonso Chibueze scored a high number of goals throughout his schoolboy years at Chelsea.
He signed his first professional contract with Chelsea in January 2023.
