Man Utd boss personally calls Dutch-Nigerian striker to sell idea of joining the Red Devils
Published: June 29, 2024According to Sky Sport Italia via Football Italia, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has personally called Dutch-Nigerian striker Joshua Zirkzee to sell the idea of joining the Red Devils in the summer transfer window.
The Premier League outfit has made the Bologna marksman one of their primary targets for this summer and ten Hag appears to be keen on winning his signature.
Despite getting Rasmus Højlund from Atalanta last summer, Manchester United are keen on getting another central forward after struggling in the final third last season and with the departure of Anthony Martial.
Zirkzee has emerged as their priority target after proving himself to be one of the best young players in the top five Leagues in Europe last term and was awarded the Serie A Best Young Player.
As revealed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are aware of the 23-year-old's €40m release clause which will expire in August.
There is said to be an internal discussion going on within the club regarding the cost of the deal which will include the reported €15m commission being demanded by his agent.
AC Milan are said to still be in the race for the Bayern Munich Academy product and have agreed contractual terms with the forward but aren't ready to pay the commission being demanded by his agent, a factor which could hand the Red Devils an advantage in this race.
