Arsenal in talks with Nigerian agent over new deal for history-making teenage striker
Published: May 09, 2024Arsenal are in talks with Chido Obi-Martin's Nigerian agent, Emeka Obasi of Elite Project Group on the possibility of the highly-talented forward extending his stay at the club amid links to PSG and Real Madrid.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners are pushing to agree on contract terms with the 16-year-old and beat off competitions from other interested clubs.
The Gunners have offered the Danish-Nigerian striker a scholarship and professional contract ahead of next season after a string of mouth watering performances this campaign for the U18s.
Obi-Martin has scored at least three goals in five U18 Premier League games this season and found the back of the net seven times in the 9-0 thrashing of Norwich last month.
The Denmark U17 international has scored 29 goals in 17 games in the U18 Premier League this season and by doing so, has surpassed two records.
He has broken Rhys Murphy's record of most goals scored in a season by an Arsenal schoolboy and entered into the club's history books again on April 27, 2024 when he surpassed Folarin Balogun for most goals scored by a player in the U18 Premier League in a single season.
Obi-Martin is now the exclusive record holder for most goals scored at that level for the north London club and will have another chance to increase his tally against U18 Premier League southern section champions Chelsea on Saturday at the Sobha Realty Training Centre.
