Player-plus-cash deal for Osimhen: Ex-Sampdoria star urges Chelsea to use Mudryk as makeweight
Published: May 07, 2024Former Sampdoria midfielder Carlo Jacomuzzi wants Chelsea to involve Mykhailo Mudryk in the proposed swap deal with Napoli for Super Eagles star man Victor Osimhen.
Reports emerged last weekend that the Blues are willing to offer Romelu Lukaku plus an unnamed young player in exchange for the services of the Nigerian forward.
This is aimed at bringing down the 25-year-old's transfer value to 90 million euros from his release clause which is said to be in the region of 130 million euros.
While there are no indications that Napoli headed by strong-willed Aurelio de Laurentiis will accept the proposal, Jacomuzzi has suggested that Chelsea should involve Mudryk in the deal.
Jacomuzzi want the Parthenopeans to demand for the former Shakhtar Donetsk forward who has struggled in his time at Stamford Bridge in the proposed swap deal.
In quotes relayed by Teamtalk, he said: "At the moment the Chelsea coach has not yet been chosen, but from the point of view of money at Chelsea they have no problem.
"Lukaku as a quid pro quo [exchange player]? I would ask them for Mudryk in exchange for Osimhen."
The Ukrainian forward has managed 10 goal involvements since joining the two-time European champions for an astronomical fee in January 2023 and they could make do without him and cut their losses.
With Napoli also planning on reinvesting the proceeds from the sale of Osimhen in their squad, it will be quite difficult for Chelsea to make a headway with the players plus cash proposal.
