Transfer journalist insists highly-coveted Nigerian CB will join Tottenham and not Newcastle

Transfer journalist Graeme Bailey has insisted that highly-coveted Nigerian central defender Tosin Adarabioyo will join Tottenham Hotspur and not Newcastle United.

It has been confirmed that Tosin will end his four-year-old association with Fulham at the end of the current season when his contract expires.

He has been linked with Manchester United, Newcastle United, Tottenham, West Ham United, Monaco and AC Milan but Spurs and the Magpies seem to be leading the race for his signature at the moment.

Spurs are keen to add the Anglo-Nigerian defender to their defensive options as they seek to bolster that department ahead of a more congested schedule next season when they will be participating in either the UEFA Champions League or Europa League.

The north London side have reportedly tabled an attractive offer for the former Manchester City youth player and are in close contact with his representatives in a bid to win the race for his signature.

Likewise, Newcastle also admire the quality of the 26-year-old and want to bring him over to St.James' Park alongside Bournemouth center back  Lloyd Kelly in the forthcoming transfer window.

Reports emerged today that Eddie Howe's side are in advanced talks with Tosin but that hasn't swayed Bailey who believes the center back will end moving to north London.

He believes Tottenham have established a relationship with the former England youth international's representatives and that will hand them an advantage in his pursuit.

"My opinion, I think he ends up at Tottenham. He's got the right agents who are connected to Spurs and Tottenham have been in for him for a while," Bailey told The Spurs News

"Newcastle like him a lot too, that is true and they are both keen on Tosin and Lloyd Kelly and we could see them both end up at the same club, but as it stands I think Tosin is more likely to Spurs and Kelly to Newcastle."

Tosin's Premier League experience will make it easier to settle in either of the two clubs having garnered 78 appearances in the English top-flight under his belt.
