Former Man Utd striker Ighalo shines with his second hat-trick of the season for Al Wehda
Published: November 25, 2023Former Manchester United forward Odion Ighalo scored a hat trick for Al-Wehda in their 3-1 win over Al-Khaleej on matchday 14 of the Saudi Pro League played at the King Abdul Aziz Stadium on Saturday evening.
Just 3 minutes after the start of the encounter, Abdulaziz Noor received a rabona pass from Anselmo and squared the ball into the path of Ighalo who tucked the ball into the net from close range.
Fábio Martins drew level for Al Khaleej in the 22nd minute from the penalty spot before Al Wehda restored their lead, two minutes from the hour mark.
It was Ighalo who was responsible for the goal having nodded the ball in from Saeed Al Mowalad's inch-perfect cross.
The 34-year-old got his hat-trick in the 80th minute from the penalty spot which sealed the victory for his side.
He has now netted two hat tricks since joining the Red Giant and recorded 8 goals in the division, the same as former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema but seven behind top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo
The victory places Al Wehda in 9th position in the standings with nineteen points garnered since the start of the campaign.
