Arsenal alum Tim Akinola scores brace on competitive debut for new Qatari club
Published: September 05, 2023Arsenal alum Tim Akinola shone on his competitive debut for his new Qatari club Al Bidda SC as they thrashed Al Ahli SC 4-1 in a QFA Cup clash at the Thani Bin Jassim Stadium (Al-Gharafah Stadium) on Tuesday evening.
The 2022 Nigeria's Olympic National Team invitee ended his association with Arsenal last week after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract with Al Bidda SC.
Akinola joined the Doha based side in good physical condition as he had trained with the Arsenal teams before traveling to Qatar.
In his first appearance for Al Bidda SC, Akinola put in a man of the match performance, grabbing two goals to help his new club secure a comprehensive victory.
Al Bidda SC were 1-0 up at halftime courtesy of a debut goal from Akinola and the central midfielder got his second of the game in the closing minutes of the second half.
In his first season at Al Bidda SC, the former Huddersfield Town and Lincoln City starlet will be wearing the number 17 at the back of his jersey.
Akinola could make his debut in the Qatargas League on September 21 when Al Bidda SC take on Al Sailiya on the opening day of the season.
The 22-year-old shunned moves to Football League and European clubs before agreeing terms with Al Bidda SC.
