Done deal: Atalanta loan out Super Eagles-eligible defender to Frosinone
Published: September 01, 2023With a statement on their official website, Atalanta have announced that an agreement has been reached with Frosinone Calcio over the temporary transfer of Super Eagles-eligible central defender Caleb Okoli.
The agreement between both clubs will see the Italy U21 international of Nigerian descent remain at The Canaries until June 30, 2024.
Okoli has joined the newly promoted Serie A club in search of regular playing opportunities.
The 22-year-old has not figured for Atalanta in the new season as he was a non-playing substitute in league matches against Sassuolo and Frosinone.
Last season, Okoli started only nine out of a possible 40 matches in all competitions for the Lombardy club, logging 952 minutes.
The Vicenza native previously enjoyed loan spells at SPAL and Cremonese, making 47 appearances combined for both teams including 43 in the Serie B.
He was a member of Italy's squad to the 2023 European U21 Championship, where he went the distance in all the three matches contested by Gli Azzurrini.
Okoli is provisionally cap-tied to his country of birth but remains a player of interest to the Super Eagles coaching staff
