Arsenal's Anglo-Nigerian defender on brink of joining Scottish Premiership new boys on loan
Published: July 18, 2022
According to FootballScotland, Arsenal defender Ryan Alebiosu is close to agreeing a season-long loan move to Scottish Premiership new boys Kilmarnock FC.
Alebiosu is highly rated at the Emirates Stadium as a promising youngster, however, his best chance of getting game-time is generally agreed to be through a loan move to a competitive league this season.
The 20-year-old, who has been a part of the Gunners academy since the age of eight, spent the second half of last season on loan at Crewe Alexandra where he logged 373 minutes in just six League One appearances due to struggles with a back injury.
Following Kilmarnock's elevation to the top flight of Scottish football, the club have been searching for defensive cover and Alebiosu fits the bill perfectly.
Though Alebiosu is yet to make his senior debut for Arsenal, he has been invited to train with the first team countless times and was an unused substitute in a Premier League match against Burnley on January 23, 2022, before heading on loan to Crewe Alexandra.
The London-born full-back is a highly versatile player who was formerly a winger before being shifted to a full-back position. He is also quite able to play as a right sided midfielder and as a wing-back.
Alebiosu is eligible to represent the Three Lions of England by birth and the Super Eagles by descent.
