Sparkassen Bundesliga Cup : Oyedele on target for Man Utd in 10-1 rout of Spfr Schwabisch Hall
Published: July 17, 2022
Manchester United U19s finished their campaign at the 2022 Sparkassen Bundesliga Cup in emphatic fashion by thrashing Spfr Schwäbisch Hall 10-1 in a match for seventh place on Sunday, July 17.
The Red Devils were drawn against TSG Hoffenheim, Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund in the group stage of the eight-team tournament.
Anglo-Polish-Nigerian midfielder Maximillian Oyedele traveled with the Manchester United squad last week for the tournament in Germany.
He was an unused substitute in their opening day loss against Dortmund, started in a goalless draw with Eintracht Frankfurt and was introduced off the bench against TSG Hoffenheim as United failed to progress to the semifinals.
Oyedele was reinstated in the starting lineup against Spfr Schwäbisch Hall and netted the third goal against the German club, striking the ball into the roof of the net in the 18th minute.
United's other scorers were Omari Forson (3), Isak Hansen, Ethan Ennis (4) and Charlie McNeill.
An FA Youth Cup winner in 2022, Oyedele signed his first professional contract with Manchester United in May.
