Nigeria-eligible starlet gets brace of assists for Arsenal U18s in win vs Reading
Published: February 26, 2022Ethan Nwaneri enhanced his reputation further by providing two assists for Arsenal in their 4-2 win over Reading in the U18 Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Making only his second career start for the Gunners U18s in the division, the England U16 international of Nigerian descent was on the pitch for 85 minutes before making way for Jimi Gower.
Reading number 9 Princewill Ehibhatiomhan started and was in action for one hour, while Brian, Arthur Okonkwo's sibling, who is also a goalkeeper was a non-playing substitute.
Nwaneri assisted both goals scored by Mathaeus Roberts in the first half and Ehibhatiomhan reduced the deficit as Arsenal went into the break 2-1 up.
On 62 minutes, it was 3-1 to the home team thanks to Taylor Foran's goal and Khayon Edwards increased the lead on 84 minutes before the visitors pulled a goal back in stoppage time.
Nwaneri made a scoring debut for Arsenal U18s in the same fixture during the 2020-2021 season.
Arsenal consolidated their sixth position in the U18 Premier League southern section with the win against the Royals.
