Etebo makes comeback in Watford's latest Professional Development League game
Published: February 21, 2022Oghenekaro Etebo made his long-awaited return from injury in Watford's latest Professional Development League game against Ipswich Town at Playford Road on Monday afternoon.
The Professional Development League is a competition for U23 players but clubs are allowed to field three outfield players and a goalkeeper above the stipulated age.
Having been out of action since September 25, 2021 with a torn quad muscle injury that required surgery, Etebo was named in Watford's starting lineup against Ipswich Town.
In a planned substitution, the Stoke City loanee was replaced at halftime with the Hornets a goal behind.
Two minutes into the second half, Cameron Stewart headed in his second of the afternoon and Tyreece Simpson wrapped up the scoring just before the hour mark.
Etebo has already started training with Watford's main squad, boosting his chances of a return to first team action in the coming weeks.
The 2016 Olympics bronze medalist had played seven games for Watford in all competitions prior to his spell on the sidelines.
