'Fantastic goal' - Former Scotland manager lauds Aribo for equaliser against Dundee United
Published: February 20, 2022Former Scotland manager Craig Levein lauded Joe Aribo after his equaliser for Glasgow Rangers in their 1-1 draw with Dundee United in a Scottish Premiership clash on Sunday afternoon.
A strong and disciplined defensive performance ensured Dundee United's defence was not breached for 75 minutes.
With fourteen minutes to go, Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey combined to rescue a point for the champions.
Playing at left-back, the Leicester City academy product showed great determination to catch the ball before it crossed to the byline and his cross found Aribo, who blasted into the roof of the net.
The Nigeria international is having some season at Rangers and his strike this afternoon took his goal involvement to thirteen in 38 appearances across all competitions.
Speaking on BBC's Sportsound, Levein stated : "It's a fantastic goal. It's no more than Rangers have deserved.
"Dundee United had been holding on manfully, but Rangers deserve it for their play in the last 10 minutes".
Aribo could be returning to England in the summer with several Premier League clubs keeping tabs on the central midfielder with a view to signing him when the transfer window reopens.
