Newcastle United ready to pay N25.5 billion to sign Nigeria-eligible attacking midfielder
Published: February 17, 2022Newcastle United are reportedly lining up a £45million bid (approximately N25.5 billion) to sign Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Sun UK is reporting that the Magpies have reignited their interest in the former Arsenal schoolboy after their loan approach was rejected in the January transfer window.
Newcastle United initially wanted to sign the ex-England U21 international on loan for the remainder of the season for a fee of £5m with a buy option set at £35m at the end of the campaign.
Money is not a problem for Newcastle United these days following the takeover of the club by Saudi prince Mohammed bin Salman and it was accompanied by a huge financial injection into the club.
Having recovered from an Achilles injury that kept him sidelined for nearly six months, Eze is no longer a guaranteed starter at Crystal Palace, playing just three games from the off so far this season.
The 23-year-old was widely regarded as one of the most promising youngsters in his maiden season in the Premier League, scoring four goals and assisting six others in 34 appearances.
The Nigerian Federation target is under contract with Crystal Palace, whom he joined from Queens Park Rangers, until the end of the 2024-2025 season.
