Leicester City coach insists Aston Villa-linked midfielder Ndidi worth much more than N28.1b
Published: February 16, 2022Speaking at Wednesday's pre-match press conference before the visit of Randers, Leicester City coach Brendan Rodgers reacted to speculation in the local and foreign media linking Wilfred Ndidi with a transfer to Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
Aston Villa are in the market for a holding midfielder and reportedly willing to pay 50 million pounds (approximately N28.1 billion in Nigerian currency) to sign the Nigeria international.
Rodgers has suggested that Ndidi's valuation is higher than the 50 million pounds transfer fee being quoted and added that the number 25's priority is to remain at the King Power Stadium as he is happy at the club.
Signed from Racing Genk five years ago, the Nath Boys product should make his 200th career appearance for Leicester City in Thursday's Europa Conference League play-off against Randers.
In quotes relayed by Football365, Rodgers said : "He’s worth much more than that. It’s both of those things – it's how it works.
"A player of that quality and mentality, of course you want to always keep, but when you have that player, he will always attract interest.
"But he seems very settled here. I know he’s moved into a new house and he seems very, very happy. He’s a pleasure to work with and hopefully he can be around the club for many years".

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Aston Villa have made no contact with Wilfred Ndidi and his minders over a transfer but Gerrard might be interested in a reunion with his former pupil, Joe Aribo.
