The transfer fee Stoke City must pay to sign Super Eagles striker permanently revealed
Published: February 15, 2022Championship club Stoke City negotiated an option to buy in the loan deal bringing Josh Maja to the Potters on transfer deadline day in January.
In case Stoke City decide to activate the option to buy in the agreement in the summer, they must pay three million pounds (around N1.7 billion), allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report.
Maja has returned to England for the second straight year having spent the second half of the 2020-2021 campaign on loan at Fulham.
The Cottagers passed up the opportunity to offer him a permanent deal for obvious reasons, after they were demoted to the Championship.
Fifteen days into his career at Stoke City, Maja has already endeared himself to the fans, scoring fourteen minutes into his debut against Wigan Athletic in the Emirates FA Cup and was also on target in his last game in the Championship against Nottingham Forest.
His goalscoring start to life at Stoke City is impressive considering that he didn't play much for Bordeaux in the first half of the season due to a back issue that kept him on the sidelines for four months.
The Sunderland Academy product has a contract with his parent club until June 30, 2023.
