FA Cup : Palace's Olise strikes; Super Eagles star scores on Stoke debut; Everton's Iwobi assists
Published: February 05, 2022Allnigeriasoccer.com's round-up of the Nigeria-eligible players who either scored or assisted for their respective clubs in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday.
It was a perfect start for new boss Frank Lampard as Everton thrashed Brentford 4-1 at Goodison Park.
Super Eagles playmaker Alex Iwobi made an immediate impact after coming off the bench as an 88th minute substitute, providing the assist for the Toffees fourth goal.
The number 17 laid the ball to fellow substitute Andros Townsend who fired home from inside the penalty area in the 91st minute.
Right-back Daniel Oyegoke and Nigeria international midfielder Frank Onyeka were non-playing substitutes for Brentford.
Stoke City are safely through to the fifth round after a 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic at the bet365 Stadium.
On his debut for the Potters, Bordeaux loanee Josh Maja made the most of a slip to fire home from fourteen yards after he was picked out by Campbell in the 15th minute.
The Stoke City number 33 was replaced with twelve minutes left on the clock.
At Selhurst Park, 2021 Super Eagles invitee Michael Olise was the star performer as Crystal Palace saw off League Two opponents Hartlepool United.
Marc Guehi opened the scoring in the fourth minute when he swept home a delightful free-kick from Olise and the Anglo-French-Nigerian winger turned from provider to scorer for the game's second goal.
The former Reading star drifted into the box and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way at the near post in the 22nd minute.
