Nigeria-eligible striker misses out on Chelsea Goal of the Month award to James
Published: November 12, 2021Chelsea, through their official website, have announced the winner of the club's Goal of the Month award for October 2021.
Reece James' strike in the 65th minute against Newcastle United on October 30 has been voted the most eye-catching goal scored by a Chelsea player last month.
Norwegian-Nigerian center forward Bryan Fiabema has missed out on the monthly accolade having been nominated for his effort against Derby County in the Premier League 2.
The Norway U19 international pounced on a loose ball whilst through on goal and placed it into the top corner of the net to wrap up the scoring in stoppage time.
Other nominees included Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount, Chelsea Women's duo Sam Kerr and Erin Cuthbert, and youth team star Dion Rankine.
More than 30,000 Chelsea fans took part in the voting to decide the Goal of the Month winner, and James came first with 42 percent of those votes.
Fiabema's goal did not make the top three with Mount and Chilwell's goals finishing second and third respectively.
