Done deal : African eligible defender signs new long-term contract with Chelsea
Through a statement on their official website, European champions Chelsea have announced that Trevoh Chalobah has signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2026.

Following a fine maiden season with Chelsea's first team, Chalobah has been rewarded with a new deal.

Born in Freetown, the central defender is a player of interest to the Sierra Leone Football Association ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 22-year-old Chalobah, an England U21 international, has appeared in ten official matches for Chelsea in 2021-2022, scoring two goals.

Commenting on his new deal, he said : "It’s quite surreal. It’s a dream for me to sign a new long-term contract for my boyhood club and hopefully the dream continues.

"It’s been an unbelievable start to the season and something I never expected but it just shows that the hard work I’ve put in and going out on loans had paid off.

"I tried to impress the manager in pre-season and then take that into the games so it’s been good and consistency now is the key to keep those high levels."

Trevoh Chalobah has been on the books of Chelsea since the age of eight and previously enjoyed loan spells at Huddersfield Town, Ipswich Town and Lorient.
