Super Eagles star Iwobi scores against favourite Premier League opponents but Everton lose
Published: November 01, 2021Everton are winless in their last four games in the Premier League following a 2-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium in the West Midlands on Monday night.
Nigeria international Alex Iwobi made his fifth Premier League start of the season, going 78 minutes on his recall to the starting lineup before making way for Anthony Gordon.
Max Kilman headed in from a corner to break the deadlock in the 27th minute before Raul Jimenez chipped the ball over goalkeeper Pickford to double the advantage in the 32nd minute, leaving the Toffees with a mountain to climb in the second half.
After a weak opening forty-five minutes, Rafa Benitez's side had a go in the second half and reduced the deficit through Iwobi in the 66th minute.
The former Arsenal winger drilled a first time finish past goalkeeper Jose Sa to give the Toffees hope.
Wolves have now become Iwobi's favorite opponents in the Premier League in terms of goals scored with his strike today the third time he has has found the net against the Wanderers.
The Super Eagles star has netted twice against Crystal Palace, Watford and Burnley.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are up to seventh in the Premier League standings with 16 points accumulated, two more than tenth-placed Everton who host Tottenham Hotspur in their last game before the international break.
