'It's unacceptable' - Ex-APOTY calls for sacking of Norwich coach after 7-0 loss to Chelsea
Published: October 25, 2021Former African Footballer of the Year Victor Ikpeba has called for the sacking of Norwich City manager Daniel Farke in the wake of the Canaries' 7-0 loss to Chelsea in a Premier League match at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Without their injured strikers Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner, Thomas Tuchel's side thrashed the visitors with academy product Mason Mount netting a hat-trick.
Callum Hudson-Odoi, Reece James and Ben Chilwell all got their names on the scoresheet in addition to an own-goal by Max Aarons as Chelsea took their goal difference to plus 20.
Ikpeba pointed out that Norwich City suffered a heavy loss largely due to their defensive issues and a new manager should be hired to correct the team's poor defensive display this season.
Norwich City have conceded 23 goals after nine matches in the division and also have problems in attack with just two goals scored.
"If I am the owner I will sack the coach of Norwich because it's unacceptable if you cannot get the best from these players to defend with their lives and lose with honour," Ikpeba said on SuperSport's Monday Night Football.
"You know what it means to lose with honour, you go there and battle, you fight.
"They are not fighting, it's just like a walkover, it's terrible. For a team that went down to the Championship with the experience they have two seasons ago and back, we expect more from Norwich."

The 1996 Olympics gold medalist added : "I think the manager is not doing enough, he's not getting the best from these players, the manager must be sacked.
"They need a new manager that will come and impose his philosophy, how to teach this team to defend.
"The most important thing for teams that are battling to escape relegation is to defend well. You start the game not to concede three, four goals in the first 45 minutes against a very ruthless Chelsea side.
"If I'm the owners or the management, I'll get this coach sacked and bring in someone else."

Norwich City, who have in their first team ranks cap-tied Republic of Ireland players of Nigerian descent Adam Idah and Andrew Omobamidele, welcome Leeds United to Carrow Road in their next game.
