Tall Nigeria-eligible center-back makes his season debut for Arsenal Youth
Published: October 16, 2021Tall Nigeria-eligible central defender Zach Awe will finally make his season debut for Arsenal youth team in this morning's U18 Premier League Cup clash against Burnley, provided he does not suffer an injury in the pre-match warm-up.
The England youth international has been named in the starting line-up for the Gunners second game of this season's U18 Premier League Cup.
Awe has not featured for Arsenal at all levels in 2021-2022 because he had been recovering from injury.
He is highly rated by the powers that be at the Emirates Stadium and signed his first professional contract February 2021, a month after his seventeenth birthday.
Awe has regularly played in higher age groups during his time with the Arsenal academy, making his Premier League 2 debut at the age of sixteen and appeared in his first match in the U18 Premier League as a schoolboy.
Originally a fullback, he was converted into a central defender after joining Arsenal from fellow Londoners Crystal Palace.
