Manchester United Academy Product Olosunde On Target For Rotherham In Loss To Iwobi's Everton
Published: January 09, 2021Rotherham United have bowed out of the Emirates FA Cup at the third round stage, losing 2-1 to Premier League opponents Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.
There was Nigerian involvement in this one as Alex Iwobi returned to the Toffees starting lineup after he was rested for home loss to West Ham on New Year's Day, while Liverpool and Manchester United Academy products Michael Ihiekwe and Matthew Olosunde respectively started for the Millers.
Cenk Tosun put Everton ahead in the ninth minute when he produced a deft chip over Blackman.
Ten minutes into the second half, Rotherham United deservedly got their equaliser through Olosunde who managed to squeeze a shot that hit the far post and over the line as the ball fell kindly to him inside the area.
In the opening stages of extra-time, Doucoure netted the game-winning goal after he was put through on goal by James Rodriguez, the Colombia international.
Iwobi and Olosunde were replaced in the 61st and 90th minute respectively, while Super Eagles hopeful Ihiekwe went the distance.
