Celtic, Rangers Have Huge Advantage Over EPL Clubs In Race To Sign Nigerian-Born Winger

Glasgow Celtic and their bitter rivals Rangers are in the driving seat in the race to sign Queens Park Rangers' Nigerian-born winger Bright Osayi-Samuel, according to reports.

The Athletic (subscription required) says the Scottish Premiership giants have the advantage over English Premier League clubs in the race for the signature of the 23-year-old.

Osayi-Samuel is in the final six months of his contract with Queens Park Rangers, meaning he can sign a preliminary contract with one of his foreign suitors this month.

He was touted to follow in the footsteps of Eberechi Eze and join a Premier League club last summer but nothing materialized before the window shut, while a move to Club Brugge fell through at the last minute even though the Belgian champions offered him the chance to feature in this season's UEFA Champions League.

Capable of playing in multiple positions in attack, Osayi-Samuel joined the Hoops in September 2017 after a three-year stint with Blackpool, for whom he made his competitive debut aged 17.

In the current season, the pacy winger has tallied three goals in 20 appearances in the Championship.
