Manchester United Yet To Table New Deal To 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations Goal King
Published: December 23, 2020Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that it is looking likely that 2019 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer Odion Ighalo will be departing Manchester United at the end of next month.
Ighalo has less than six weeks to the end of his contract and the Red Devils have yet to table a new deal to the attacker, meaning he is set to return to his parent club Shanghai Shenhua and await further developments.
He was mostly utilised by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær as an impact substitute in his first five months at United and he delivered, so much so that he was offered a contract extension until January 31, 2021.
United's signing of free agent Edinson Cavani in the summer transfer window has seen Ighalo drop down the pecking order of strikers in the new season.
From a possible 22 matches in all competitions, he has been involved in only four and was surprisingly omitted from the matchday squad for tonight's Carabao Cup quarterfinal clash against Everton, the first time he has not been named in a matchday squad for a non-Premier League game since his return to England.
Ighalo is in the final twelve months of his contract with Shanghai Shenhua, whom he joined from Changchun Yatai in February 2019.
