2003-Born Center Back Eligible For Nigeria, England, Netherlands, Signs New Reading Deal
With a statement on their official website, Championship club Reading have announced that 2003-born central defender Nelson Abbey has signed a new deal.

The promising youngster has put pen to paper on his first professional contract, keeping him at the Royals until at least the summer of 2022 if the two parties honour the agreement.

Abbey, who started the 2020-2021 season as a second year scholar, made his first team debut against Luton Town in the League Cup on September 15, eighteen days after celebrating his seventeenth birthday.

He is eligible to represent the national teams of Nigeria, Netherlands and England at international level but the English Football Association are believed to be in the driving seat for his services at the moment.

Abbey has played three non-binding games for England U17s and was called up to a training camp with the U18s last month.

This season, he has seven starts under his belt for Reading U23s in the Premier League 2 and also featured in the FA Youth Cup loss to Aston Villa.
