McCoist Does Not See Chelsea Young Star Joining Aribo At Rangers In January
Published: December 09, 2020Rangers hero Ally McCoist has admitted that a proposed deal that would take Chelsea young star Billy Gilmour to the Light Blues in the January transfer window would be difficult to pull off.
The highly-rated 19-year-old central midfielder spent his formative years as a footballer with the youth team of Rangers before he was acquired by Chelsea three years ago.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is contemplating whether to send him on loan next month with first team opportunities difficult to come by after his return from a long-term injury.
McCoist name-checked Nigeria international Joe Aribo as he reeled out the names of four excellent midfielders currently in the Rangers squad Gilmour would benefit from playing with.
"Listen, he’d certainly be involved with some very, very good players. Rangers midfield.... Steven Davis, Joe Aribo, Glen Kamara, Ryan Jack - excellent footballers," McCoist said to talkSPORT.
"He would fit in there perfectly because he is a very good footballer himself.
"It’s whether Frank and himself would sit down and say, ‘Go up to Rangers, get some game-time’".

Aribo has participated in 62 matches, scoring 13 goals, since joining Rangers from Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2019.
