Teenage Nigerian Striker Trains With Arsenal First Team Ahead Of Europa League Clash
Published: December 09, 2020Folarin Balogun is in the frame to add to his first team appearances for Arsenal on Thursday when they take on Dundalk on matchday six of the Europa League.
The American-born striker of Nigerian descent was pictured training with the Gunners first teamers at London Colney on Wednesday morning ahead of the trip to the Republic of Ireland capital.
Captain for Arsenal at U23 level, Balogun was not in the matchday squad as Arsenal were beaten 3-0 by AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday, fueling speculation that he will be involved in some capacity against Dundalk.
It was against Dundalk in the reverse fixture that the England U20 international was handed his professional debut by manager Mikel Arteta on October 29.
The 19-year-old has gone on to make two more appearances since his debut, coming off the bench against Molde and recently in the 4-1 rout of Rapid Vienna, scoring one goal.
With a one hundred percent record after five rounds, the Gunners are certain to top Group B of the Europa League regardless of what happens in their game at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
