Published: November 28, 2020Nathan Tella is in contention to be included in Southampton's matchday 18 in Sunday afternoon's English Premier League clash against Manchester United at St Mary's Stadium.
The former Arsenal winger was spotted training with the Southampton first teamers on Friday as they continued their preparations for the showdown against the Red Devils.
Tella has been left on the bench in recent weeks, making the matchday squads in three of the last four matches played by the Saints but was a non-playing substitute on each occasion.
Before then, he was involved in four of the opening six games contested by the Saints across all competitions.
His emergence in the first team this season did not come as a surprise as he was one of the standout players for the U23s and was embedded with the first team squad post lockdown, and made his professional debut as a substitute in a 3-0 win at Norwich City in June.
Super Eagles chief scout Tunde Adelakun is keeping tabs on the uncapped Tella with a view to an invitation to the national team in the near future.
The 21-year-old will be hoping to make an impact against the Red Devils if given the chance by manager Ralph Hasenhüttl.
