Published: November 07, 2020Watford have climbed to second in the Championship standings after edging a five-goal thriller against Coventry City at Vicarage Road on Saturday evening with all the goals netted in an eventful second half, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Tottenham Hotspur Academy product William Troost-Ekong returned to the starting lineup of the Hornets after he was benched vs Stoke City while recuperating duo Isaac Success and Tom Dele-Bashiru were not in the 18.
Andre Gray put the home side into the lead in the 53rd minute but Coventry City showed real character to come from behind, scoring through Gustavo Hamer and Tyler Walker to get in the driving seat.
On 66 minutes, Watford were back on level terms thanks to Troost-Ekong who rose highest to head home a corner.
It was the central defender's first goal in English football in his fifth senior appearance.
The balance shifted Watford's way when Sarr dispatched a penalty past goalkeeper Maroši to make it 3-2 in the 83rd minute.
Troost-Ekong came through the game against Coventry City unscathed and is expected to report for international duty with the Nigeria national team on Monday, November 9 ahead of 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches with Sierra Leone.
